IF: Swarm

Bee Devil - illustration by Paul Zdepski
Bee Devil - or - Be'd Evil

Whichever you prefer.

Graphite in my lucky Strathmore Sketchbook. It was part of my series dealing with childhood issues... I was scared to death of bees. My dad kept honey bees in the backyard, which would occasionally sting when stepped upon, but the hornets and bumblebees in the shed out back were merciless. The could sting repeatedly and pursue you as you ran.

I hated going in that shed for any reason - except in winter.

Hope you have left your childhood 'bee-evil' issues far behind you and now you are deeply in love with sweet, honey producing bumble bees ;-)
And I hope the love is mutual and they don't sting you anymore.

Clever! I like the horns. Evil little bugger! We had bees in the wall between my bedroom and my parent's closet. I too was scared of them, because I was allergic to them, and the day that they had to bee guy come and tear a hole in their closet wall and exterminate them, all the upstairs rooms were filled with bees, and my parents STILL made me go up there to sleep. They said it'd be all right if I stayed away from the window, but I'm someone who has ALWAYS needed to look out windows, and I alas did not.

Oh, they are surly little creatures sometimes! Feeling the angry buzz in this very warm palette! :o)

I've always liked honeybees, but can relate to your feelings with hornets and yellow jackets. Nice piece :)

Fun evil image! I don't mind bees, but I do get highly nervous around red wasps and yellow jackets. Mean little buggers! It's funny how experience colors our lifelong perceptions.
