Emma's House

zdepski's sculpture of Emma's house

Here's the display environment for the figurine of "Emma Eating Beneath the Eaves". I made it from Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), pine strips and a piece of lexan for the window.

I painted it with acrylic then coated with a layer of Liquitex gloss medium to protect the paint... not digging the brush strokes under hot lights. May hit it with Matte medium on top to knock that back.

I placed the line drawing of Emma over the scene to show you what I'm thinking about.

total size, 4 x 4 x 11.75 inches

cool! have you considered using gouche for the surface? it's matte appearance and its ability to flow on without obvious brushstrokes might give you the surface you would like. or a thin layer of acrylic with a drying retarder and matte medium? love your work!

ivenotime: No, Gouache hadn't even crossed my mind... I'm wondering how it would react with wood, but I guess it would be like "milk paint" in furniture. I'm roped into the acrylic now, but will certainly consider gouache next time around... hmmmm.

and Thanks!
